Dr. Margarita Lachica, DDS MS
A native of Illinois, Dr. Lachica finished her undergraduate education at the University of Illinois. She then earned a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree, having been awarded a full scholarship from the US Navy, and graduated with top honors in 1999 from Northwestern University in Chicago.
Dr. Lachica then began her active duty dental career in the US Navy. In her first year of service, she completed an advanced degree in general dentistry while working with the US Marines. She then served two tours, in Europe and in Asia, and was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal. Dr. Lachica finished her military career as a Lieutenant Commander.
Upon returning to civilian life, Dr. Lachica taught restorative dentistry at the University of Texas Dental Branch in Houston for two years, appointed as a full-time instructor and faculty practitioner while continuing research activities for the Navy.
In 2004, Dr. Lachica started a focus solely on orthodontics. She completed her combined 3-year specialty and master’s program at UC San Francisco, ranked 3rd in the country.
Not only does Dr. Lachica's extensive experience in restorative dentistry allow her to take on the most complicated orthodontic cases, but she has broad experience in the orthodontic treatment of children, teens and adults.
In addition to her practice, Dr. Lachica currently lectures at the UC San Francisco Dental School in Orthodontics being faculty since 2007, consults for the US Naval Recruiting Command of the Bay Area, and belongs to several dental study groups.
Dr. Lachica is a very proud volunteer orthodontist for Smiles Change Lives, a non-profit organization that assists underprivileged children receive orthodontic care that their families' could otherwise not afford. Dr. Lachica has also travels Mexico with the Thousand Smiles Foundation to treat children with facial deformities and orthodontic needs.
Outside of her clinical interests, Dr. Lachica is particularly involved in mentoring young adults interested in careers in dentistry. She also serves on the panel for Congressional appointments for the US Naval Academy.
In her free time, Dr. Lachica enjoys traveling, cooking, and spending time with her toddler, Annie. She also enjoys competing in triathlons, mud runs and other just-for-fun races.
Dr. William Patterson, DDS
Dr. Patterson has been contributing to the health and self-esteem of both children and adults since starting his practice of orthodontics in San Ramon in 1971. He completed his undergraduate studies at Long Beach State, was a Regents Scholar at the UCLA School of Dentistry, and finished his post-doctoral orthodontic certification at UC San Francisco.
He strives to provide his patients with the most up to date orthodontic management by taking advanced post-graduate courses and utilizing the best available technology. His 17-year participation in the prestigious Seattle Study Club has been a source of peer education and advancement.
He enjoys traveling, photography, and providing dental care on missions to Central America. You may see his Cavalier King Charles spaniel, Mia, at the office.
Angie, treatment coordinator
Angie joined our team in August 2012. She has been working in the specialty of Orthodontics for the last 10 years. She is proud to have the opportunity to serve the patients of Lachica Orthodontics. On the weekend you can find her at either the soccer or baseball field, watching her son Jordan play. On Sundays, she is the athlete, playing soccer for the Clovers, in an over 30 co-ed league.
Melissa, financial coordinator
Melissa has been in Dentistry for 30 years. What excites her most about dentistry are the relationships she gets to build with the patients and their families. She has 14 year old boy/girl twins, Joseph and CatieMaree and a 9 yr old boy, Lucas. Her favorite way to spend time is hanging with her kids.
Jessica is a Registerd Dental Assistant, specialized in orthodontics practicing since 1999. She finds it very rewarding being part of improving someone's smile. She grew up in San Ramon and resides in Livermore with her growing family. Jessica enjoys cooking, camping, and spending time with her friends and family.
Brooke, sterilization technician
Brooke has been on the team for one year, and has enjoyed every minute of it. She is a full time student at Las Positas College working towards her AA to transfer to a four year. She graduated from California High School and was a cheerleader for 8 years. On the weekends you can find her riding her dirtbike or 4-wheeling, going to the beach, or spending time with her family.
Born and raised in the Bay Area, Nicole has been working in orthodontics for the past 25 years. She currently holds an active Registered Dental Assisting certification with the California State Board. She says that working with Dr. Lachica has given her the opportunity to work in a friendly environment and to constantly learn new things. Seeing the patients’ reactions after the outcomes of their treatment is very rewarding and is a motivation for her to continue working with the team. Nicole enjoys spending as much time as possible with her daughter, and visiting Lake Tahoe whenever she has the chance!
Erika has been a Registered Dental Assistant for 10 years. Her favorite part is getting to watch our patients’ smiles be created from beginning to end. She has three children: Ricardo, Adryanna, and Alejandra. She enjoys watching a good movie, whether at home snuggled up with the kids or at the movie theater with popcorn. Her favorite sports teams are the A's, Warriors, and Raiders.
